Lent. This has in the last few years become a very important part of my year. It started almost five years ago when I decided to not go on facebook for a month. This was in September but after it working like a charm I decided to try kinda the same thing for lent the year after that. And now I try to keep it that way on an annual basis.
My rules are these:
No facebook
No twitter
No 9gag, lolcats etc.
No alcohol
No sugar
The last one I did last year aswell. I did Sarah Wilson's 8 week program called I Quit Sugar and it really works! And this time I'm going to do it harder and better!
Why I choose to not "abuse" the internet and my time for 40 days is because all of a sudden there is so much time on your hands to do other things. To cook, to laugh with friends, to write, to make love, to read books, to dress up, to stretch, to pray. Better things than staring at a screen or than telling the world what you just ate.
It is also a way to come closer to God and to really think about my relationship to God and to others and to myself. To meditate on my path with God, on my dreams and wishes and what I really want.
So happy lent to all of you!
