The Power of Music

At this week ends festival I bumped (literally) in to a woman who stood in the middle of the crowd waiting for the Sting concert. I was there to see The Hives, I came one concert in advance to be able to have some good spots. She was there to see the show after The Hives and she was there since the place opened. She stood through 7 hours of crazy drunk people dancing just to see Sting.

And that's not all.

When The Hives had finally stopped playing I let her have my spot and I moved back a bit. She smiled, thanked me and told me: "I haven't left the house in 18 months."

I don't know why she has not left her house in over a year but I do know why she finally left it. For Sting. For the music. And when Sting came on - she cried.

That is the power of music. Music can make a 50 year old woman leave her home for the first time in a year and a half and stand through hours and hours of screaming, dancing, crazy fans while listening to music that she doesn't like at all.

Think about that.
