Being on vacation makes me take off my watch, let my phone charge out and bake sweet treats that I keep telling people that I don't eat.
Just this week I have learnt how to make a Dress Up game in flash, I have been out hunting the woods for mushrooms twice (and with good luck as well) I have cooked, I have read, I have breathed the wonderful autumnal air here. And - sorry Paris - you can never beat this place. I have even trotted around the streets in a wedding gown. Yes. Eventful week.
But the most important thing that I have done this week - is spending time with my family. The whole big family. Grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, second cousins and even a dog.
Last night we were at my aunts place and I met cousins I hadn't seen in over three years. And I finally got to meet some of the additions to the family! (girlfriend, boyfriend, dog)
And just sitting there with a dog in my lap and listening to that sweet chaos and cacophony that is my family made me feel like home again. Like real home. Not the I'm-on-vacation-so-I-have-to-see-everybody-before-I-leave kind of home. It was real home. A feeling I haven't experienced in the last 3 years.
For me - for us - family is important. And it is also one of the reasons why I consider coming back home in the future.
They say home is where your heart is. Well my heart is where my family is. Just... not too close.
What's your family like?
