There are days when magic happens.
Such as the day when I went to choir practice and met the amazing Viveka Bergström.
Viveka is from Sweden but lives in Paris since way back, she is a jewelry designer who has been featured in Elle, Madame Figaro, Grazia and an amazing number of other magazines.
On this fortunate day when I met Viveka she asked me if I wanted to model some jewelry for her.
I am not a model. But she saw something in me that she liked. So some time after our first meeting I ended up in a wonderful apartment modeling some of the most creatively inspiring jewelry I have ever seen.A photoshoot is not complete without makeup and it was all done by the wonderful Josephine Bouchereau who has done work for Jean Paul Gaultier and Lancôme among others! She is so talented, she really has an eye for art and fashion - she knows what will look good at the first glance.
And to top it all of the photographer was no other than Daniele Fona. Daniele is an Italian photographer based in Paris who has had his worked featured in more magazines than I could even count. Being photographed by such a professional was a great experience and he taught me numerous things about modeling.
It is weird to see photos of myself like this. I am not unfamiliar with being photographed. I love it. And I have always used myself as a model whenever I wanted to take photos. But these photos are real photos. They are the product of a cooperation between four people. It is weird to be a canvas, it exposes you and you put yourself in a very vulnerable position. I was terrified not to satisfy the expectations of Viveka. I was terrified to not carry the makeup well enough. I was terrified to make the same face in front of the camera over and over again.
Modeling is a lot harder than what people think. You don't just have to be pretty - you have to give of yourself a 100% to please the costumer. And you can only give of your own person. I really believe you have to be very strong to do something like that every day.
But back to Viveka and her jewelry!
If I had to sum up the style of Viveka's work I would probably say Over-the-Top Simplicity.
There is something very strong in her creations, like something for a modern confident woman who can be sexy and a bit crazy and successful all at once.
Some of her earrings are huge and nothing for the fainthearted but she also makes very simple but elegant pieces that you can wear every day.
They are big - but simple. With a black Swarovski crystal and an elegant design that will be my statement piece this winter.
And what I love most about these earrings is that they are anti allergic!
Can we just celebrate that for a moment? Because I can't actually wear earrings without getting horrible infections. But these babies are there all day without hurting me a single bit. They are also very light for big earrings.
So check out Viveka Bergström if you haven't yet. She has a webshop. And a blog. And a facebook page.
And to finish this post of I would like to thank Viveka for letting me live this experience!
It was a blast!
Bisous!
